Pollyanna McIntosh

Pollyanna McIntosh was born in Portugal and Colombia, but she returned to Scotland when she began her career on the stage at The Edinburgh Festival. At 16, she moved to London and soon became involved in independent filmmaking (her first pay-per-view was as stoner in Irvine Welsh's The Acid House (1998)) and theatre, both as an actress and director. In 2004, she relocated to Los Angeles to direct "The Woolgatherer", a play in which Anne Dudek (a regular guest on Mad Men (2007)/Big Love (2006)) was directed. The play was praised by critics. In Headspace (2005) she made her debut US film role as "Stacy" who was a manipulative person who was a newly-baptized Christian. She was then cast in the role of "Thumper Wint", a wild, born-again Christian, in Sex and Death 101 (2006) (Simon Baker/Winona Rider), by Heathers (1988). The critics were amazed by her unique blend of the power of sexuality and the irreverent comedy. Exam (2009) was a film that was shot in London and LA is her next film. It was nominated for Outstanding British Debut by the BAFTA and won the Santa Barbara Film Festival's Best Independent Award. The reviewers praised Pollyanna's capacity to "emotionally vulnerability" her strong, confident character. GQ stated that Pollyanna McIntosh, a brilliant actor, is "extremely talented". Como Quien No Quiere La Cosa (2013) (As if you Don't Like it! She is Trevor Lock, a disgruntled Brit comedian. Filmed in Peru the film is a comedy that she speaks Spanish throughout. In Burke and Hare (2010), directed by John Landis, she plays Isla Fisher's best friend along with Simon Pegg, Andy Serkis, Jessica Hynes, Tom Wilkinson and Tim Curry. Lucky McKee's The Woman (2011) was an absolute success. The film received rave reviews and topped New York Times readers' top films poll. For her work, she won three Best Actress awards, including Total Film's Frightfest Award and Fright Meter's.
