  Kerstin Anita Marianne Ekberg (Swedish pronunciation (listen) 29 September 1931 11 January 2015) was an Swedish actress, who was active in American and European films, renowned for her beauty and stunning silhouette. Her iconic character of Sylvia in Federico Fellini's film La Dolce Vita (1960) earned her fame. Ekberg was born in Sweden on 29 September 1931. She was the sixth child of eight. Anita was a fashion model during her teens. Ekberg participated in the Miss Malmo competition in 1950 after her mother's encouragement. She took home the Miss Sweden contest.
